Yahoo Finance Hugh Jackman's $1,300 Christmas gift to 900 Aussies
Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman has reportedly given 900 R.M. Williams workers a $1,300 cash gift each, as a thank you for their work over the year.
Jackman, who is the footwear brand’s ambassador and former shareholder, gave the gift to all workers employed as of 16 October, which was when he sold his 5 per cent stake in the business as part of Andrew Forrest’s $190 million takeover.
According to The Advertiser, the gift was detailed in a company memo sent out on 17 December.
The actor has been the brand’s global ambassador since 2019, before making an additional $10 million out of the sale of his shares to Forrest in October this year.
“R.M.’s have been a part of my life across the entire journey, from my early stage days to where I am today,” Jackman said when he was appointed global ambassador.
“It's an honour to be a part of the R.M.Williams family and to wear the brand's iconic craftsman boot for the campaign.”
R.M. Williams has 74 stores across 15 countries.
