Australian diners can score up to 50 per cent off the bill under a new promotion designed to get hungry spenders out and about.

Restaurant booking app TheFork has launched its discount dining festival, running for six weeks from the 15th of February to the 28th of March.

TheFork Festival includes more than 100 restaurants across Australia, including wine bars, local cafes, cheap and cheerful restaurants and fine dining.

“TheFork Festival encourages Australian diners to really explore the amazing array of restaurants in their cities,” TheFork Australia country manager Gary Burrows said.

“Our data shows that 97 per cent of customers who book during TheFork Festival are dining at a restaurant for the first time - so we are introducing hundreds of diners to new restaurants each year.”

This is the third year of TheFork Festival, with the platform offering special deals of up to 50 per cent off, special menus and one-off promotions.

“We know that TheFork Festival is even more important this year, both reminding diners of what’s out there and driving new customers to restaurants when they need them. We hope to help eliminate as many empty seats across Australian restaurants as we can,” Burrows said.

Restaurants including Canberra’s SuperBao and Zeytin, Sydney’s wine bar DeVine and Italian joint Capriccio Osteria and Adelaide’s Aces Pizza and Liquor and Electra House.

In Brisbane, The CBD’s Pool Terrace and Bar and Baos Pop Bistro will offer specials, while Melbourne will have discounts at Giro d’Italia and Don Taco.

To make use of the promotion, customers need to book through TheFork app or website where they can also check out participating restaurants.
