After-hours buzz: Teck, Blackstone, Axalta & more

Now that the S&P 500 has reached new ground above 2,120, the next test is whether it can continue to run or whether it falls back into its recent range.

Check out the companies making headlines after the bell Monday:

Teck Resources Limited (Toronto Stock Exchange: TCK.B-CA) - The mining and mineral development firm shot down reports of a possible merger with copper miner Antofagasta. Teck shares tumbled nearly 8 percent in after-hours trading after rising some 10 percent during the regular session.

Blackstone Group (NYSE: BX) - The asset management firm will pay more than $1.2 billion to Paulson for three large hotels, Dow Jones reported, citing unnamed sources. The stock inched higher in extended trading.

Axalta Coating (NYSE: AXTA) - The stock fell more than 1 percent after it commenced a secondary offering of 35 million common shares.

Vipshop (NYSE: VIPS) - Shares edged lower after the e-retailer said its senior vice president would resign.

DryShips (NASDAQ: DRYS) - Shares rose about 2 percent after the marine shipping company announced plans to sell its tanker fleet.
