The Honey Pot makes non-toxic, plant-derived vaginal care products

“Spending Power” is a series where we discuss trendy products from the young and diverse women entrepreneurs behind some of our favorite small businesses.

Slowly but surely, people are normalizing discussions around periods and vaginal care. The Honey Pot is just one brand pushing the conversation forward for sustainability and anyone with a vagina.

The Honey Pot was founded by Bea Dixon when she couldn’t find a remedy for her bacterial vaginosis, a fairly common condition according to the CDC. While working at a Whole Foods, Dixon decided to craft her own custom remedy.

Now, The Honey Pot is of the few Black-owned brands sold nationwide in stores like Target, Walmart and even Urban Outfitters. However, it’s not just the brand’s pretty packaging that’s making waves. Every single product is plant-derived, fragrance-free and made without any harsh chemicals.

“Vaginas should not be taboo, it should not be a weird topic,” Dixon tells In The Know. “I think that it’s us kind of paying homage to the thing that brought us here, and also to just loving our body.”

The Honey Pot carries several different vaginal washes, tampons, pads, wipes, and even its own menstrual cup. The brand’s top-selling product is its sensitive wash.

“[For] most women, that’s typically the entryway into the brand,” Dixon says. “The difference between normal and sensitive is that the sensitive has a lighter concentration than the normal.”

One of The Honey Pot’s other standout products is its menstrual cup that can stay inside your body for up to 12 hours. Plus, it has a longer plunger and a textured finish for easier grip and removal.

“I am just grateful that our products are helping humans with vaginas everywhere to feel more comfortable,” Dixon says.
