Home prices rose 7.7 per cent in 2016

Australian capital city home prices rose 7.7 per cent in 2016.

In the December quarter, prices rose 4.1 per cent, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Residential Property Price Index.

Melbourne was the strongest market with prices rising by 10.8 per cent in the 2016 calendar year, while Darwin the weakest as prices slipped 7.0 per cent
