HBCU All-Star games scheduled for Final Four weekends starting in 2022

Future Final Four weekends are slated for even more basketball.

Starting in 2022, players selected as All-Stars from historically Black colleges and universities will compete on Final Four Sundays. The games will take place in the host city on the off day between the Saturday national semifinals and Monday championship games.

New Orleans will host the first HBCU All-Star game, a fitting locale as an iconic Final Four host and in the home state of six HBCUs.

CBS announced the news on Thursday and will carry the games on its airwaves. The network also announced that a week-long HBCU All-Star Game Experience festival will take place in the host city alongside Final Four festivities.

Thursday's announcement is the latest in a busy week of basketball news around HBCUs. The NBA is donating $3 million to HBCUs as part of its All-Star game in Atlanta this weekend. And Nike's LeBron James branded apparel will become the official gear of Florida A&M athletics. The HBCU will be the first school partnered to wear James-branded gear.
