Harry Kane has tweeted for the first time since returning to training at Tottenham as the summer’s highest-profile transfer saga rumbles on unabated.

The England captain joined in with Spurs group sessions for the first time on Tuesday after missing Sunday’s 1-0 opening Premier League win over reigning champions Manchester City, the club still trying hard to sign him and indeed whom he wants to join before the August 31 deadline.

Kane had previously been working individually while quarantining at Tottenham’s Enfield training base after returning from post-Euro 2020 holidays in Florida and the Bahamas.

The 28-year-old was included on the initial squad list for the Uefa Europa Conference League play-off first-leg tie against Pacos de Ferreira, but was then not named as part of the group that travelled to Portugal for Thursday night’s match as he instead stays behind to continue to work on his fitness.

On Wednesday afternoon, Kane tweeted a picture of him training alongside the caption: “Another session in the bank.”

Kane - who still has three years left to run on a six-year contract signed in 2018 - has made himself available for Tottenham duty and could feature in the Premier League on Sunday as manager Nuno Espirito Santo faces a swift return to Molineux to face former employers Wolves.

The only time the Three Lions skipper had spoken publicly over recent weeks came with a statement released via social media earlier this month, when he denied that he had refused to return to Spurs training and would report back to the club on Saturday, August 7 “as planned”, saying that he had been hurt by the comments questioning his professionalism and insisting that he would not do anything to jeopardise his relationship with the Tottenham fans.

Standard Sport understands that Kane is thought to be deeply frustrated with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s refusal to negotiate with Manchester City, who are reported to have offered a British record fee of £125million for his services, believing a gentleman’s agreement to allow him to leave the club this summer if Spurs underachieved last season has been broken.

He is also thought to be frustrated over the narrative regarding his return to pre-season training.
