The chief electrician on Rust’s set has told how Halyna Hutchins led dying in his arms after Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun and killed the cinematographer.

Serge Svetnoy said the cinematographer’s blood was “on my hands” while he cradled her after the fatal shot on the set of the Western movie.

Devastated, the electrician took to Facebook to share what had happened when tragedy struck the film set in an impassioned post.

He wrote in a Facebook post: “Yes, I was standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Halyna during this fatal shot that took her life and injured the director Joel Souza. I was holding her in my arms while she was dying. Her blood was on my hands.”

Mr Svetnoy opened up about his close bond with Ms Hutchins, having taken care of each other, as he said he had sometimes shared food and water with the cinematographer on set.

He went on: “I have received hundreds of calls, text messages, letters with words of support and condolences since the day of the tragedy with Halyna Hutchins, and I’m very grateful to everyone.

“Yes, I knew Halyna, not for a year. I worked with Her on almost all of her films. Sometimes we’ve shared food and water.

“We’ve been burning under the sun, freezing in the snow on the shoots. We took care of each other. Yes, I can say with 100% confidence she was my friend. WAS!!!”

It comes after Hollywood legend Mr Baldwin broke his silence to say his heart was broken in the wake of the tragedy.

The actor confirmed he is “fully cooperating” with the police investigation.

Behind the scenes, the actor has been supporting Ms Hutchins’ husband Matt.

Tweets posted on the official account of the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation said: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and…”

A second tweet said: “I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Baldwin’s wife Hilaria wrote on Instagram: “My heart is with Halyna. Her husband. Her son. Their family and loved ones. And my Alec.

“It’s said, ‘There are no words’ because it’s impossible to express the shock and heartache of such a tragic accident. Heartbreak. Loss. Support.”

Alec’s brother Stephen previously asked for his followers to send “prayers” to all those involved in the “tragic” incident.

Alec and Hilaria married in 2012 and the pair share six children.

Deputies responded to the incident at around 2pm on Thursday to the movie set at the Bonanza Creek Ranch after 911 calls came in of a person being shot on set, sheriff’s spokesman Juan Rios said.

No charges have been filed. Police said witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.
