Half-price specials: Best Woolworths, Coles deals this week

The two big supermarkets, Woolworths and Coles, each week put a range of grocery products on sale at 50 per cent off.

These weekly half-price specials distinguish them from their fast-gaining rival Aldi, although the German discount chain does have its own weekly specials.

For Coles and Woolworths, these "loss leader" deals don't bring in much money - if at all - but they bring shoppers into their stores. Once they're in the supermarket, the retailers are hoping they will buy other full-priced groceries to complete their weekly shop.

Yahoo Finance every week reviews the half-price specials and lists them here so you can choose which supermarket to go to this week.
