Half-price specials: Woolworths, Coles' best deals this week

Australia's two big supermarkets, Woolworths and Coles, each week slash 50 per cent off the price of certain grocery items.

And Yahoo Finance, for your convenience, every week picks out the best of these half-price deals and lists them here in one place. Then you can make your own judgment as to which retailer to spend your hard-earned.

These "loss leader" deals are not profitable for Coles and Wooloworths, but their only purpose is to get Australians into their store rather than their rival's. Once you're in, the retailer is hoping you'll buy full-price groceries to round out your weekly shop.

The half-price deals are even better than this Woolworths promotion, where customers can get 25 per cent off their entire grocery haul. Aldi does not have half-price deals, but they have their share of weekly "tempter" bargains.
