Achieving effortlessly cool, tousled beach waves in your hair is sometimeasier said than done. Personally, I tend to over-curl my hair, so it ends up looking less beachy and more glam. (Cute, but not what I’m going for.) However, amika just released a new, bigger version of its best-selling High Tide Deep Waver, and it’s so easy to use, you almost can’t mess it up.

The new Jumbo High Tide Deep Waver amps up the wave size with three 1.25-inch barrels to give you looser, natural-looking waves. (The original device has a 0.7-inch barrel size.) To use it, section your hair half up, half down. Then, hold the device horizontally and clamp it on 2- to 4-inch sections for about five seconds. Move the tool down the section of hair and repeat until you’re done.

It probably goes without saying, but before using any hot hair tool, you should spray your hair with a heat protectant. However, you can also finish off your beach wave style with a sea salt spray, dry shampoo or amika’s Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray.

The Jumbo High Tide Deep Waver launches Monday, Aug. 1 on amika’s website and at Sephora for $120. However, I was able to test it out in advance on my shoulder-length hair and it definitely works fast. While the brand suggests using the jumbo size on medium to long hair lengths, I thought it worked great on my LOB. It’s so big, I basically curled one whole section in five seconds without having to move it down the strands.

I also like that it has crease-free clamps (no crimping here!) and uses negative-ion technology to give hair a frizz-free finish. Additionally, it has cool tips and comes with a glove to help protect you from accidentally burning yourself. (Take it from me, you probably want to wear the glove.)

In conclusion, summer may be ending soon, but your fresh off the beach look doesn’t have to. Add the Jumbo High Tide Deep Waver to your routine ASAP.
