Yahoo Finance Gold Coles Stikeez sells for $20,100
A Golden Billy Banana Stikeez has reached a $20,100 winning bid on eBay after a full week of bidding.
The collectable, described as a “brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item” is one of only 100 Coles Stikeez Golden Billy Bananas.
They’re redeemable for a $100 Coles voucher.
The starting price was just $10, but reached $100 within six bids. Other Golden Billy Bananas are listed on eBay for between $20.50 and $5,400.

The Stikeez collectibles campaign follows the supermarket giant’s earlier Little Shop campaign, and is meant to reward children for eating fresh fruits and vegetables. There are 24 different Stikeez collectibles, excluding the limited edition versions.
Upon the release, shoppers immediately made headlines as Stikeez’ appeared on online marketplaces within days of the campaign launch.
“The most luxurious of all the Stikeez, Golden Billy Banana lives a life of luxury with his shiny metallic skin!” Coles said on its website.
“And if you find him, you’ll be richer with a $100 Coles voucher!”
The Golden Billy Banana is joined by fellow limited-edition Stikeez, the Crystal Brodie Broccoli, the Glowing Carlo Cucumber, the Glitter Cooper Carrot and the Metallic Eddie Eggplant.
Shoppers react
The gold banana auction was first posted on Facebook group, I Bought It At, when the Stikeez reached bids of $10,500.
Users reacted with shock upon its final $20,100 bid.
“Absolute 1st world idiocy,” commented one member.
“Omg I can’t believe people would pay that,” said another.
Another questioned the $15.05 postage fee.
“Plus postage. Chuck the postage in for free jeez.”
