Are you planning to go away on holiday, or want to book some last minute flights for Easter? Here are the airlines you should be travelling with.

New data from Point Hacks reveals the best frequent flyer program around, based on flight availability and best points-per-flight values.

Unsurprisingly, Qantas took out the top spot as the best airline rewards program, followed by Virgin Australia’s Velocity program, according to a recent Point Hacks survey.

Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer came in third place, with a quarter of frequent flyers finding the best value in this program.

Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles, Emirates’ Skywards Miles, Etihad Guest, Air New Zealand Airpoints and British Airways Executive Club made up the remainder of the list.

But is Velocity the real winner?

But the survey also shows that while Qantas’ frequent flyer was named the best program on a national basis, flyers in Queensland, ACT and Tasmania prefer Velocity.

This is also the same case for younger flyers.

Interestingly, more lower income earners voted Velocity as the leading program: 35 per cent of voters earning less than $50,000 annually preferred Velocity, against just 23 per cent of the same income earners who voted for Qantas.

So why does Qantas come out on top?

Because Qantas still has the majority of corporate contracts, Point Hacks’ spokesperson Daniel Sciberras explained.

“If you’re flying on one airline for work, it’s more likely you’ll also fly with them for personal travel,” he said.

“Gold and Platinum members may also favour this program as they have access to a Platinum Lounge in Sydney and Melbourne, while Queensland and South Australia only have a general Business Lounge.”
