A critical incident has been declared after a woman was injured after she allegedly jumped out a window to escape police in Sydney’s Inner West.

The incident began when police were called to View Street in Marrickville at 2:20pm on Thursday after hearing reports of a fight outside a unit block.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a man and a woman inside of the unit block.

While they were conducting inquiries behind the unit, the officers became aware of a third person “present in another room”.

A 22-year-old woman was then found outside the unit with head injuries.

NCA NewsWire understands that the woman is believed to have jumped out of the window in an attempt to evade police.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

It’s unknown if she was linked to the reported fight and she has not been charged with any crime.

“A crime scene has been established, with a critical incident team from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

The investigation will be subject to an independent review.
