Giraffe chases down tourists in heart-stopping footage
A group of tourists got a taste of wildlife while on safari in Kenya — perhaps more than they bargained for.
Dicken Muchena was along for the jungle tour at Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya on Dec. 9. While driving in a Jeep, a giraffe suddenly hurdled toward their car and started to chase it. Muchena, a 27-year-old teacher and photographer, captured the shocking moment on camera.
Gift ideas for the retro lover:
The group of tourists was leaving the area after observing a few giraffes that were grazing the grounds at the reserve. Then, things took a turn.
Footage showed the giraffe suddenly charge at the car. As the car sped away, the massive animal galloped behind the Jeep, eventually gaining enough speed to pull up right next to it.
The driver began to drive in reverse but then the giraffe continued to chase the group down the road. One of the tourists clapped her hands and told it to “go away” before it finally took a hint and gave up racing the vehicle.
Gift Guides: The perfect gift for the budding chef in your life:
“The giraffe seemed harmless at first — but all of a sudden it turned foul and chased us from its natural habitat,” Muchena said according to the New York Post. “It even tried to block our exit at one point — but we managed to get away. It was certainly a scary adventure”.
