The Prime Minister Julia Gillard says the former Greens leader, Bob Brown's opposition to the Kimberley gas hub development will not affect the Government's final decision.
Julia Gillard is making a brief visit to the Kimberley region.
Bob Brown is leading the campaign against the development which has now been approved by Western Australia's Environment Protection Authority.
The proposed $30 billion project is slated for James Price Point, north of Broome.
Ms Gillard says Mr Brown's view will not change the Federal Government's decision-making process.
"Our environmental assessments, whether its James Prime Point or anywhere else, are done on strict scientific and environmental grounds," she said.
"It's not about who's on which ship or who's holding up which placard; it is about the science and the environment and what is best for our environment, so that is what the Minister will take into account." Both the federal and state Environment Ministers make a final decision on whether the project can proceed.
