There’s nothing worse than expecting crispy roasted vegetables and getting soggy broccoli.
Working with frozen veggies can require a bit more effort to get them just right. Thankfully, In The Know’s AmiLin McClure tried a simple trick to make frozen vegetables extra crispy in the oven — and it works.
All you need are a few extra minutes — and AmiLin’s hack, of course.
“I’m so excited to try this out today because frozen vegetables can be a little bit more affordable than fresh ones, and they still have plenty of nutritional value,” AmiLin said.
According to Eating Well, veggies are a great source of vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. And frozen vegetables have just as many nutrients as fresh ones since freezing is a great way to preserve most foods.
AmiLin started by preheating the oven to 425 degrees.
“Next, grab your bag of frozen broccoli and pour it onto the baking sheet into a single layer. I’ve lined mine with aluminum foil,” AmiLin said.

She placed the broccoli in the oven for 10 minutes. You’ll want to make sure to leave it in until the water evaporates.
“Next, drizzle on some olive oil,” AmiLin said. “And sprinkle on the salt. Make sure that everything is evenly coated and pop it back into the oven for another 15 to 20 minutes or until the broccoli is roasted and crispy.”
When AmiLin took the broccoli out of the oven, every floret was brown and crispy on the edges.
“I love how this turned out,” she said. “I could definitely eat the entire tray and I think this food hack is a game changer just because the broccoli turned out so crispy.”
