Freshpet: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) _ Freshpet Inc. (FRPT) on Monday reported a loss of $3.5 million in its second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Secaucus, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 10 cents.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 7 cents per share.

The seller of refrigerated fresh pet food posted revenue of $47.6 million in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $45.7 million.

Freshpet expects full-year revenue of $190 million.

Freshpet shares have increased 54 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $29.10, an increase of 79 percent in the last 12 months.
