Yahoo Finance Former Treasurer Peter Costello tackles Australia’s economic future
It’s been a turbulent year for the Aussie economy, and with interest rates at a record low, Australia’s future still looks a little uncertain.
The property market bordered on its longest-running downturn in history, with housing values plummeting, while the US-China trade war has wreaked havoc on the Aussie share market.

These global and local economic headwinds, along with the future of work, innovation and the next generation of consumers will be addressed by Australia’s longest-serving Treasurer, Peter Costello, at Yahoo Finance’s All Markets Summit event.
The event, which will take place on 26th September at Sydney’s Shangri-La hotel, will inform a 400-strong audience on ways in which companies, institutions, government and individuals around the world can best position themselves for 2020 and beyond.
Costello, who will deliver the opening keynote on the future of Australia, will be joined by some of the best minds in Australian business.
“Focusing on shaping tomorrow’s economy and workforce, these brilliant minds in business, government, academia and entrepreneurship will hit upon the most critical issues currently facing Australia,” event moderator and Yahoo Finance ANZ Editor-in-Chief Sarah O’Carroll told Yahoo Finance.
Among the speakers joining Costello are CEO and founder of Freelancer.com, Matt Barrie; the world’s most disruptive innovator, Neal Cross and co-founder of billion-dollar Aussie start-up, Lucy Liu.
Founder of OzHarvest, Ronni Kahn and Australian politician, Clare O’Neil will also join the event’s stellar line-up of speakers, as will Virgin Australia CEO Paul Scurrah, Aussie economist, Stephen Koukoulas.
Also joining the list of speakers are: future of work expert, Sean Gallagher, innovation psychologist Amantha Imber; thought leader, Amanda Stevens; NAB executive, Jon Davey; CEO Sally-Anne Williams; and MC Danielle Di Masi.
