Qantas frequent flyer points in recent times have become a currency of their own, with many third parties offering them up to lure travellers hungry for credit.

Often you'll get anything between 0.4 to 1 Qantas point per dollar you spend at a particular retailer.

For example, every $2,000 spent at Woolworths can be converted to 870 Qantas points, while using Deliveroo four times in one month will harvest 200 points.

But one very quick way to get a whole bucket of points is through applying for a new credit card.

Almost every bank has a credit card that can earn to Qantas points, but at the moment Qantas Money - which is the airline's own credit card provider - has some good deals on.

The Qantas Premier Platinum credit card, Yahoo Finance has learned, is reducing its yearly fee from $299 to $199 for the first year.

As a new customer, you'll receive 20,000 points per month if you spend $1,500 on the card during that same month. That introductory offer runs for the first six months.

That's a potential total of 120,000 frequent flyer points for just using a credit card that you would normally do anyway.

You would need to buy $275,862 worth of groceries at Woolworths to get that many points, or eat Deliveroo for 50 years.

And what does 120,000 get you? The haul is enough to immediately redeem for a business class - not economy - return flight to Hong Kong or Singapore. In effect, $199 to lay flat for a trip to Asia.

The Premier Platinum, on a permanent basis, will grant you 1 Qantas point per dollar you spend. So if you spent the minimum $1,500 for the first six months then that's another 9,000 points in your account.

The card, which in the background is a Mastercard issued by Citibank, also grants you free travel insurance, two free Qantas airport lounge passes each year and 20 per cent discount on family and friends' domestic fares.

But for the lucky few, there's a way to get even more points in one go - 150,000 to be precise. The Qantas Premier Titanium credit card will get you that much if you spend $5,000 on the card in the first 90 days.

That one's not for everyone though. The annual fee is a hefty $1,200 and a minimum annual income test of $200,000.
