Denim jackets (or jean jackets) are timeless. In fact, they’ve been around since the 1880s. Levi Strauss is credited as creating the first pair of jeans in 1870, followed by the durable jean jacket nearly a decade later for cowboys, miners, laborers and more. While it’s changed quite a bit since then, every year, brands release their version of the classic jacket. And this year, oversized styles are in.

I recently found the perfect oversized denim jacket, and I’m going to wear it everywhere this fall. The jacket is AG Jeans Kendrix Jacket, and according to the product description, the oversized trucker jacket is perfect for layering. You can wear it over chunky sweaters, sweatshirts or over a light T-shirt. It has dropped shoulders, exaggerated hems and a little bit of a longer length to give it that oversized look.

It comes in a few different colors, including black, light blue denim, blue denim and a pale metallic gray. I got the jacket in Hotshot, the darker, more classic blue color. I like that the denim is more rigid, too. It’s like vintage jeans that are a little thick with no stretch, but it’s still super soft. It feels like it’s high quality because it is.

Keep in mind that this jacket is oversized, so you could size down if you’re on the petite side. However, I’m considered short, and I tried on my regular size and one size down and stuck with my regular size.

Now, you’ll want to consider this denim jacket an investment piece. It’s going to last you a really, really long time. It regularly retails for $235, although you can find a light denim version of it for $75 off in a few sizes at Shopbop right now. You can hope it goes on sale at some point, but I would argue that it’s worth every penny when you consider the cost per wear. Seriously, there’s pretty much nowhere I wouldn’t wear this AG Jeans oversized denim jacket.
