FEDERAL BUDGET 2015: Government plans backflip on harsh dole measures

The Abbott Government is dropping its contentious plan to make some young adults wait up to six months before receiving dole payments.

According to Fairfax, the Government plans to do a backflip on last year’s harsh Budget measures, which would have forced people under 30 seeking the dole to wait six months before they could receive welfare.

Instead, the Coalition will drop the waiting period from six months, to four weeks.

The existing waiting period for dole-seekers is just one week.
