Facebook adds quoted replies in Messenger, finally

You know the feeling – you arrive to the group chat three hours late and have a million things to reply to but the messages are so far up you have to keep scrolling up to check the message and down just to reply.

If only you could reply in-line.

Something that was so simple on Whatsapp – being able to quote messages in replies – was impossible on Facebook Messenger.

But a new Facebook update has changed that.

The new feature allows Facebook Messenger users to reply to specific messages in the chat by long-pressing on the text and then hitting the Reply icon to send text, GIFs, photos and videos.

Here’s what it will look like:

Facebook announced it would roll out a “new, simplified” version of the Messenger service in October last year, and made headlines recently with the launch of its Dark Mode, which inverts the colours on the Messenger screen for night-time users.

Facebook Messenger also recently rolled-out the ability to remove messages sent on Messenger.
