Most expensive cities to die in Australia revealed

It might not at front of mind for now, but your funeral cost could break the bank for your loved ones, especially if you live in one of these cities.

According to finder.com.au, Sydney tops the list as the most expensive Australian city to have a funeral in with a massive average cost of $8,357 – this is a whopping 10% higher than last year.

In second place was Perth with an average $7,584 bill, and in third place was Brisbane with $7,505.

On the other end of the spectrum, the cheapest city for a funeral service in Australia is Hobart with an average cost of only $6,832.

Worryingly, finder.com.au has also found that 11.2 million Aussies – or around 60% of the population – have no plans to pay for funeral costs and instead in intend to leave relatives to foot the bill.
