Ex-NFL star talks 'masterful' Manning, markets

Super Bowl Champion and former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann has something to say—about Sunday's big game and volatile markets.

Theismann told CNBC's "Halftime Report" last week that contrary to popular opinion, the Denver Broncos will come out on top at the Super Bowl. He believes the game is really between Carolina Panthers' quarterback, Cam Newton, and the Broncos' defensive line.

The Pro-Bowler is also a big believer in the Broncos quarterback, Peyton Manning, saying despite concerns about the signal caller's arm strength, "he will be masterful."

Theismann didn't just take a stand on the this weekend's game, he also spoke about the markets. His take?

"I'm looking at the market as a day trading market and we're currently in a pullback. There's lots of anxiety due to low oil prices, volatility in China, and the current presidential election."

So what's his advice to investors right now? "If you have a portfolio that's somewhat varied, bring it down to a smaller number so you can manage it in a much more efficient manner," he said.
