Envirosuite (ASX:EVS) Shareholders Have Enjoyed An Impressive 150% Share Price Gain

It might seem bad, but the worst that can happen when you buy a stock (without leverage) is that its share price goes to zero. But when you pick a company that is really flourishing, you can make more than 100%. For example, the Envirosuite Limited (ASX:EVS) share price has soared 150% in the last three years. Most would be happy with that.

Check out our latest analysis for Envirosuite

Envirosuite wasn't profitable in the last twelve months, it is unlikely we'll see a strong correlation between its share price and its earnings per share (EPS). Arguably revenue is our next best option. Generally speaking, companies without profits are expected to grow revenue every year, and at a good clip. Some companies are willing to postpone profitability to grow revenue faster, but in that case one does expect good top-line growth.

Envirosuite's revenue trended up 82% each year over three years. That's much better than most loss-making companies. Meanwhile, the share price performance has been pretty solid at 36% compound over three years. But it does seem like the market is paying attention to strong revenue growth. Nonetheless, we'd say Envirosuite is still worth investigating - successful businesses can often keep growing for long periods.

We like that insiders have been buying shares in the last twelve months. Having said that, most people consider earnings and revenue growth trends to be a more meaningful guide to the business. A Different Perspective

Investors in Envirosuite had a tough year, with a total loss of 31%, against a market gain of about 2.1%. However, keep in mind that even the best stocks will sometimes underperform the market over a twelve month period. Longer term investors wouldn't be so upset, since they would have made 1.1%, each year, over five years. It could be that the recent sell-off is an opportunity, so it may be worth checking the fundamental data for signs of a long term growth trend. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. Case in point: We've spotted 2 warning signs for Envirosuite you should be aware of, and 1 of them shouldn't be ignored.

Envirosuite is not the only stock that insiders are buying. For those who like to find winning investments this free list of growing companies with recent insider purchasing, could be just the ticket.
