Embraer focused on selling current products, no plans for sizeable capex cycle

PARIS, May 1 (Reuters) - Brazilian planemaker Embraer is focused on selling its current portfolio of recently developed products, a company spokesperson told Reuters, adding there was no big capital expenditures (capex) cycle in the works.

He was reacting to an earlier Wall Street Journal article saying Embraer was exploring options for a new narrowbody jet model to challenge the market dominance of Boeing and Airbus.

"Embraer certainly has the capability to develop a new narrow body aircraft. However, we have a young and very successful portfolio of products developed in recent years, and we are really focused on selling those products and making Embraer bigger and stronger," the spokesperson.

"We don't have any plan for a sizable cycle of capex at this time," he added (Reporting by Tim Hepher; Editing by Benoit Van Overstraeten)
