Eagles sign guard Brandon Brooks to four-year, $54.2 million extension

The Philadelphia Eagles have locked up the best guard in the NFL. Brandon Brooks has signed a four-year deal that will keep him in Philadelphia through 2024. The deal is reportedly worth $54.2 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The 30-year-old Brooks, who was drafted in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, has developed into one of the best guards in football since joining the Eagles in 2016. He’s made two straight Pro Bowls, and ranks within the top three among offensive linemen in a number of key areas, according to PFF.

Brooks’ success this season is even more incredible considering he tore his ACL in January. Brooks sustained the injury during the Eagles’ playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round.

Brooks overcame that injury, and started for the Eagles in Week 1. He’s played in every game this season, and hasn’t missed a game since 2016.

While the Eagles are committing a fair amount of money to Brooks, keeping Carson Wentz healthy should be the team’s main priority. The two players are both signed through 2024, ensuring Brooks will continue protecting Wentz the next four years.
