$A down on economic growth concerns

The Australian dollar is lower on concerns about domestic economic growth in the year ahead.

At 0630 AEDT on Thursday, the currency was trading at 104.92 US cents, down from 105.16 cents on Wednesday afternoon.

Comments from Reserve Bank of Australia governor Glenn Stevens published on Wednesday suggested the Australian economy faces challenges ahead with the winding down of mining investment, and continuing weakness in other sectors.

The comments saw the currency fall back against many of its peers in local trade on Wednesday.
