Donald Trump Leaves The White House As His Presidency Ends

Donald Trump left the White House for the final time as president on Wednesday, snubbing president-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration as he officially ended a term filled with lies, racism, sexism, economic debt, disease and hate.

Trump boarded Marine One at the White House for the short flight to Maryland’s Joint Base Andrews. From there he departed the nation’s capital using Air Force One – while he still could – to travel to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida before Biden was to be sworn in at noon (5pm GMT).

He’s scheduled to land in West Palm Beach at 11am (4pm GMT), with just one hour left of his presidency.

He ended his speech: “Have a good life – we will see you soon”.

Trump did not mention Biden by name at all.

But the country’s top Republicans said on Tuesday that they would skip Trump’s departure ceremony in favour of attending inaugural activities with Biden. Vice president Mike Pence was not expected to attend the send off and planned to be at Biden’s inauguration – the latest sign that Trump’s relationship with one of his most loyal allies had soured.

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and House minority leader Kevin McCarthy both accepted Biden’s invitation to attend mass at a church in Washington at about the time of Trump’s send off, according to Axios.

Trump previously said that he would not attend Biden’s inauguration, in which the new president will...
