Disney offers behind-the-scenes look at exclusive Cinderella Castle suite: 'Not many people get to come up here'

Disney is giving its TikTok followers a look at one of the most exclusive parts of Walt Disney World Resort that only a few lucky fans are actually able to see in person: the Cinderella Castle suite.

According to Disney Tourist Blog, the room that is now the Cinderella Castle suite was supposed to be Walt Disney’s apartment for when he and his family made trips to Orlando. He died before the apartment was completed, so the room was just a multipurpose utility space back when Magic Kingdom opened in the 1970s.

Eventually, the room was repurposed into a “royal bedchamber” by Walt Disney Imagineering and opened in time for the Year of a Million Dreams promotion in 2006. As part of this promotion, lucky guests were awarded a one-night stay in the Cinderella Castle suite.

Today, it’s virtually impossible to book the Cinderella Castle suite. You can stay there by invite, charity auction or contest only; Disney has apparently turned down as much as a $40,000-a-night offer to book the room. It seems the best way to stay in the suite is by being famous: A-listers like Tom Cruise and Mariah Carey have earned coveted invitations to stay overnight.

Given the exclusivity of the Cinderella Castle suite, fans were naturally overjoyed when Disney decided to do a behind-the-scenes tour on TikTok. On Jan. 9, the official Disney Parks account took fans around the suite, which is literally right out of a fairy tale.

“Welcome to the Cinderella Castle suite,” a Disney cast member says as they pan from the mosaic pumpkin carriage on the floor up to the entrance of the suite. “Not many people get to come up here, so here’s a quick look into one of our favorite places.”

The suite is just as magical as you might imagine: Past the entrance is a welcoming fireplace with a portrait of Cinderella above it. Guests can enjoy the warmth of the fireplace from either of the two massive beds, both of which have the letter “C” above them for Prince Charming.

Elsewhere in the room is a mirror which, like magic, turns into a television right before your eyes. When guests don’t want to watch TV, they can look out the window and watch parkgoers or enjoy the story of Cinderella told via the intricate stained glass windows.

The bedroom isn’t the only cool room in the suite, though. The bathroom is equally elaborate, with chandeliers shaped like crowns and a massive jacuzzi surrounded by three 10,000-piece mosaics. Above the bathtub is a sparkling display of stars, so guests can bathe in starlight — literally.

Finally, when guests leave the Cinderella Castle suite, they are gifted a glass slipper, which they get to keep as a reminder of their special time living like a princess.
