Potential buyers aren’t allowed to set foot into this dilapidated house for sale in Sydney’s Annandale.

The four-bedroom, one-bathroom house at 78 Alfred Street has a collapsed roof, broken front door and boarded-up windows, with sections of the property fenced up behind metal gates.

The ramshackle condition of the house means it is not open for physical inspections, with homebuyers encouraged to do a “drive by” to view the property.

Listing agents BresicWhitney Inner West said the property offered a “knockdown and rebuild” opportunity and described it as a “blank canvas” to build your dream new home.

“A rare land-value-only opportunity, the setting offers good separation from other homes, and the potential to build your dream residence (subject to council) amid garden surrounds,” the real estate listing reads.

“Not many of these left in Inner Sydney.”

The real estate agents are unable to provide a price guide because the property is going to auction on September 30, However, according to Domain, houses in the inner-west suburb have a median price of $1,975,000.

Listing photos reveal a broken front gate, boarded-up front door, along with numerous boxes of clothing that have been covered by a tarp.

The backyard of the property isn’t much better, with photos showing it overgrown with weeds and littered with household items, including a pet carrier, a cat scratching pole and an old table.

There are no interior photos of the property provided and the floorplan doesn’t offer buyers many more clues, with the floorplan simply stating it is a “dilapidated structure”.

It’s not the only dilapidated Sydney property to hit the market recently. An overgrown terrace house in Redfern sold for a whopping $3 million in June. The property was completely covered by plants after years of neglect.

Meanwhile, in West Ryde, an 'uninhabitable' three-bedroom, one-bathroom house sold for a staggering $1.88 million.
