Delta, Amazon, Apple, Comcast, Microsoft: Companies to Watch

Here are the companies the Yahoo Finance team is watching for you today.

The FAA is investigating why a Delta (DAL) pilot decided to dump fuel over the Los Angeles area, injuring dozens of adults and students. The flight heading to Shanghai experienced an engine problem right after take-off, and the pilot unloaded its fuel before returning to LAX. Delta says the plane followed "normal procedure" but they "share concerns" over the injuries.

Amazon (AMZN) is loosening the grip on its FedEx (FDX) ban. The e-commerce giant will now allow third-party sellers to once against use FedEx's ground network to send Amazon Prime deliveries. Amazon is also extending a hand to small businesses in India by investing $1 billion to bring these companies online, after it was accused of undermining those local sellers.

President Trump is calling out Apple (AAPL). He wants the tech giant to unlock the naval base shooter's two iPhones. He tweeted, “They will have to step up to the plate and help out." Attorney General William Barr made a similar request of Apple on Monday. Apple has reportedly not told the Justice Department if they can even unlock the phones.

A top exec at NBCUniversal (CMCSA) is jumping ship. George Cheeks is heading to ViacomCBS (VIAC), where he's expected to succeed Joe Ianniello as head of the network, according to the Wall Street Journal. No word on when he would start the his new role. Cheeks oversees NBC's television production business and its late-night programming.

Microsoft (MSFT) is breathing a sigh of relief now that it's issued a software patch to fix a security flaw in its Windows 10 operating system. The National Security Agency found that Windows 10 was vulnerable to hackers who could send corrupt files but make them look like they are coming from a trusted source. Microsoft says there are no signs anyone exploited the issue.
