Deliveroo is taking to the skies in a new food delivery experience that's coming to Australia

  • Food delivery service Deliveroo will helicopter customers over London's skyline as part of a new trial in the UK.

  • A lucky few will have just 20 minutes to finish their meal 300 metres above the ground, before returning them to a nearby helipad.

  • It's understood a similiar trial is to be undertaken in Australia soon.

If you're a fan of dinner with a view, then Deliveroo might just be the ticket.

It's offering Brits the chance to visit "the highest restaurant in Europe", by choppering customers high above the city of London for a 20-minute express dining experience.

Taking off from a London helipad on Friday, the so-called "Roocopter" will take up selected punters into the skies while they enjoy a meal from one of Deliveroo's vendors.

They'll pass by the London Shard and hover over the O2 Arena before circling back to base. After gently letting one group down, they'll pick up a new set of dinner guests and do it all again.

The whole experience will last 20 minutes and is thought to be costing Deliveroo around $300 a pop. Customers won't pay a thing though for a dinner they won't soon forget.

For Australians, it's a taste of things to come.

Deliveroo has confirmed that it has plans to bring the trial to Australia next year.

"We are actively looking at bringing Roocopter to these shores for early 2020,” Deliveroo Australia head of consumer communications Joe Satari told Yahoo Finance.

Business Insider Australia has approached a Deliveroo spokesperson for comment.
