Yahoo Finance DEA raids Ohio house where Raiders rookie Lynn Bowden Jr. was staying
Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Lynn Bowden Jr. was present in an Ohio home that the DEA raided early Wednesday but was not arrested or charged in the incident.
The DEA released a statement on the raid while Brown’s agency confirmed the incident. The Athletic reports that the house belongs to Bowden’s grandmother.
“This morning, a house belonging to a family member of our client, Lynn Bowden Jr., was searched by the DEA in Youngstown, Ohio,” a statement from Element Sports Group reads. “Lynn and his young son were guests at the home.
“During the process, authorities handcuffed all who were present to secure the area. Lynn fully cooperated with law enforcement during the search. At the conclusion of the search, Lynn was released, not arrested and not charged with any crime. In fact, no arrests were made.”
DEA: ‘No charges have been filed at this time’
The DEA statement classified the incident as part of an ongoing investigation in a statement.
“Early this morning DEA, with the assistance of U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement officers, executed a search warrant at a residence on Superior Street in Youngstown, Ohio,” the statement reads. “No arrests were made and no public charges have been filed at this time. This is an ongoing investigation and no additional information is available at this time.”
Agents seized handguns and loaded assault rifles during the raid, according Youngstown’s WKBN and ESPN.
Bowden’s mother Melissa Phillips responded on Twitter to early reports of the incident that inaccurately stated that the house belonged to Bowden Jr.

The Raiders acknowledged the incident in a statement.
“The Raiders are aware of the situation and are in communication with Lynn Bowden Jr,” statement reads. “We will not be commenting further at this time.”
Bowden’s anticipated role in Las Vegas
The Raiders selected Bowden in the third round with the 80th pick in April’s draft.
Bowden was a standout athlete at Kentucky where he split time at quarterback but did most of his damage as a runner during his junior season. He was named the MVP of Kentucky’s Belk Bowl win over Virginia Tech last season after rushing for 233 yards and two touchdowns and throwing for the go-ahead touchdown late in the 37-30 come-from-behind victory.
Bowden was also a weapon as a receiver, tallying 114 receptions for 1,303 yards and six touchdowns in three seasons.
He’s expected to spend time at running back for the Raiders and could contribute in the return game after averaging 22.4 yards per kick return and 22.1 yards per punt return in three seasons at Kentucky.
