Yahoo Finance Report: De'Aaron Fox agrees to five-year, $163 million max extension with Kings
The Sacramento Kings are locking down their franchise centerpiece.
Point guard De’Aaron Fox has agreed to a five-year, $163 million max extension to stay in Sacramento for the foreseeable future, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The deal also reportedly has a clause that could make it reach the $195.6 million supermax.

The contract will be the largest in Kings history, breaking the record set by Chris Webber’s $122.7 million deal according to ESPN Stats & Info.
The Kings selected Fox fifth overall in the 2017 NBA draft and have watched him develop into a star floor general in the three seasons since. Last season, Fox averaged a career-high 21.1 points plus 6.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.
At only 22 years old, Fox is among the fastest players in the NBA and a foundational piece for whatever the Kings think they’re building for the future. It will be interesting to see how the Kings build around Fox after drafting Iowa State guard Tyrese Haliburton with the 12th overall pick of the 2020 NBA draft, but talent is not a problem among those two playmakers in the Kings’ backcourt.
Fox is the first member of the 2017 draft class to cash in on a max extension, and in all likelihood won’t be the last. Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz and Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat are among the other players who could soon be cashing in.
