Dad records powerful TikTok message for moms everywhere: ‘Stay strong, you are not alone’

This TikTok star made a video supporting the mental health of mothers, and it’s super inspiring.

TikToker Chris GQ Perry (@chrisgqperry1), who has over 1 million followers, posted a clip of him standing up for moms everywhere who are dealing with mental health issues. The poignant post has close to 3 million views, and it garnered some serious respect and appreciation in the comment section.

In the video, Perry breaks down the importance of not looking down on parents who need to take a break due to mental health.

“When she gets depressed she don’t clean. She don’t cook. The kids eat out. She lets herself go,” said Perry, giving an example of how parents talk about other parents.

“Some women put out ‘Oh I could never.’ ‘I have to clean, that’s gross,” continued Perry. “Good for you. Some women can’t.”

“Some can’t even get out of bed,” said the TikToker. “And when they do it’s a battle. But they can’t talk about it because if they do, they’re judged and looked down on and told, ‘You gotta keep going.’”

Perry says that it’s important for parents, in this case specifically moms, to not pass judgements when they go over to other people’s houses, because it’s impossible to know what situation those parents are in.

“If you go over and the house is a mess, 9 out of 10 times she’s having a bad week and you should probably ask if she’s ok,” said Perry.

‘Thank you for addressing this…’

Users used the comment section to both thank Perry for his valuable advice, and to provide some insight of their own.

“FINALLY!!!! Someone who has figured it out!!!” said one TikTok user.

“This made me emotional because this is the battle I fight every single day. Thank you for addressing this,” said a thankful mom.

“Whoever needs this today, you are a good mama, it’s ok! None of us are perfect! It’s ok to have bad days,” said an inspirational parent.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 264 million people worldwide live with depression, and women are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed than men according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It’s extra important for parents to take care of their mental health. So if a fellow parent is going through a hard time, providing support is a lot more helpful than passing judgement.
