Candice Warner has joked about her role in husband David’s nasty groin injury suffered in the second ODI against India.
Warner has managed to avoid surgery on his groin but is now racing the clock to play in the first Test of the summer.

The talisman opener went down in Sunday night’s ODI series-clinching win at the SCG, with scans confirming a strain that will keep him out of the remaining white-ball matches.
Speaking about her husband’s injury on Triple M radio on Tuesday, Candice said she’d been asked if she might have played a part after being reunited with David following his stint in India and quarantine.
“We only sort of reunited after four months apart, a couple of days prior... and everyone's like, ‘What have you done to him?’,” Candice laughed.
“I'm like, ‘It wasn't me! It was not me’.”
Triple M host Laurence Mooney said: “You're under a cloud now. Dave Warner's got a groin strain... you might have cost his country a cricketing summer!”
To which Candice replied: “Sorry Australia”.
Candice said David was doing everything he can to be ready for the first Test at Adelaide Oval, starting December 17.
“So, he's got a groin strain and now it's just a lot of recovery, a lot of monitoring and hopefully...,” she added.
“I mean there’s 17 days before the first Test against India, so hopefully he'll be ready to go. But it is serious, and he is in a lot of pain.
“He will not want to miss that first Test.”
David Warner racing the clock for first Test
While Cricket Australia won’t put a time frame on Warner’s rehabilitation, the opener looked in immense discomfort as he left the SCG on Sunday.
The team’s former doctor Peter Brukner claimed on SEN on Monday he expected Warner would miss at least four weeks.
Given his game is built around quick footwork and hard running between the wickets, any issue with his groin would be of concern to Australia.
Australia could now open with Matthew Wade or shift Alex Carey to the top of the order for Wednesday’s final ODI.
But the bigger issue is the Test team.
While Joe Burns appears likely to hold his spot ahead of the in-form Will Pucovski at the top of the order, both could open if Warner is out.
That would hand Pucovski his debut against a pink ball in Adelaide, while Burns hit just 57 runs at 11.4 to start the Sheffield Shield for Queensland.
There is however a belief from teammates he can step up into the senior opening role if Warner is unavailable.
“Joe is averaging 40 in Test cricket, so he is certainly established,” Marnus Labuschagne said.
‘He has four Test hundreds, he is a very good player.
“Although he hasn’t scored the runs in Shield cricket he'd have liked, he got 99 against Pakistan last summer and negotiated through that new-ball period almost every time.
“He's not far away from some very big scores.”
