Competition watchdog clears Skywest takeover

The competition watchdog has announced that it will not oppose Virgin Australia's proposed takeover of the West Australian regional airline Skywest.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) says Virgin's acquisition of Skywest is unlikely to have much impact, because the airlines only compete on one route.

The ACCC says it is yet to reach a decision on Virgin's plan to buy a 60 per cent stake in Tiger Airways Australia.
