A central Victorian company has won a fresh Federal Government defence contract.
Bendigo's Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) will make standard combat uniforms for the Australian Defence Force for the next five years.
The Defence Materiel Minister, Jason Clare, says the deal will be worth about $14.5 million each year.
"I made the decision two years ago that the standard combat uniform that our soldiers wear must be made in Australia," he said.
"I think it's only fair that soldiers who fight in a uniform have that uniform made in Australia, the shirt and the pants.
"So I made that decision and ADA's won that contract.
"I think it's fantastic news for Bendigo."
