Yahoo Finance Chrissy Teigen returns to Twitter 22 days after quitting for good
Chrissy Teigen has returned to Twitter 22 days after quitting the social media platform for good.
The model and television personality, who is married to the singer-songwriter John Legend, announced on 25 March that she had been left “deeply bruised” by Twitter and that the platform had “served [her] negatively”.
“My life goal is to make people happy,” she tweeted. “The pain I feel when I don’t is too much for me … For years I have taken so many small, two-follower counter punches that at this point, I am honestly deeply bruised.”
Today (16 April), however, Teigen resurrected her account and declared that quitting Twitter only served to “silence” her own voice.
“Turns out it feels TERRIBLE to silence yourself and also no longer enjoy belly chuckles randomly throughout the day and also lose like 2000 friends at once lol,” Teigen tweeted.
In a further tweet, Teigen added: “I choose to take the bad with the good!!”

Before she quit the platform, Teigen had been one of Twitter’s most high-profile celebrities, with her tweets regularly going viral and provoking discussion among her 13.7m followers and social media at large.
She was the only celebrity to be followed by President Joe Biden shortly after his inauguration, while her candidness about experiencing a miscarriage in October 2020 drew praise.
Teigen has also been open about the horrors she experienced on the site. In July 2020, she condemned alt-right trolls for spreading baseless conspiracies linking her to the billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Teigen tweeted that she had consulted lawyers and that she feared for her family’s safety over the spread of the conspiracies, adding: “They won’t stop until I die. I’m convinced of it.”
Shortly before she quit Twitter in March, Teigen responded to a tweet abusing her appearance, writing: “You guys are truly just mean, I’ll never get over it.”
Teigen’s follower count appeared to have been wiped when she briefly deleted her account. It stands at just over 5,000 as of Friday afternoon, though it is expected to sky-rocket within hours.
