Yahoo Finance Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid involved in multi-vehicle crash that injured 2 children
Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, son of head coach Andy Reid, was involved in a multi-vehicle crash that injured two young children Thursday night, according to KSHB in Kansas City.
The Chiefs confirmed Reid was involved in the crash. The team said it is gathering information.

Reid was driving a white Dodge Ram pickup truck when he hit a stranded car on a highway entrance ramp. The crash took place near the Chiefs’ facility.

AIS responded to meet MPD and EPD in regard to a three vehicle collision, with life threatening injuries. A grey Chevy Impala was on the southbound entrance ramp from Stadium Drive. The Chevy Impala ran out of gas and was initially stopped with flashers on, but the battery was dying. The driver and lone occupant of the Chevy Impala called his cousins for help. The cousins responded and parked their silver Chevy Traverse, south of the stranded Chevy Impala, with their lights on. A white Ram Laramie Sport pickup was traveling on the entrance ramp, to get on southbound I-435. The Ram pickup struck the left front of the stranded Chevy Impala. The Ram continued south and slammed into the rear of the stopped Chevy Traverse. The driver of the Chevy Impala was sitting inside his vehicle at the time of the first collision. He was not injured in the collision. The driver of the Chevy Traverse and the front seat adult passenger were not injured in the collision. A four year old in the back seat of the Chevy Traverse was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A five year old in the back seat of the Chevy Traverse was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the Ram pickup received non-life threatening injuries. Impairment is under investigation.
A crash report obtained by Fox4 in Kansas City said officers could smell alcohol on Reid’s breath, and noticed Reid’s eyes were bloodshot. Reid told officers he had 2-3 drinks and that he was on Adderall, according to Fox4.
Reid not traveling with Chiefs to Super Bowl
The crash occurred two days before the Chiefs are set to travel to Tampa, Florida, to take part in Super Bowl LV. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Reid remains in the hospital with undisclosed injuries and could remain there for days. He will reportedly not make the trip with his team to Tampa on Saturday.
Officers reportedly collected vials of blood from Reid and will test it for “blood alcohol content and/or the presence of controlled substances,” per the crash report. The report also notes Reid has had “multiple prior DUI contacts.”
As of Friday night, Kansas City police told Russini that no charges have been filed against Reid, but he is under investigation for drive impairment. Any charges would reportedly come after the Super Bowl due to the time it takes for blood toxicology results.
