Chevron has discovered more natural gas off Western Australia's North West coast.
The exploration wells are located about 200 kilometres north of Exmouth in the Carnarvon Basin, a world-class hydrocarbon resource.
About 60 metres of recoverable gas was discovered at Pinhoe-1 well in the Barrow and Mungaroo Sands, about 200 kilometres offshore.
Another well, Arnhem-1, was discovered about 290 kilometres offshore, containing about 45.5 metres of gas.
Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company president Melody Meyer says the discoveries have the potential to expand the natural gas resource in the region.
"These discoveries in the Exmouth area are significant as they are located farther out from other discoveries in the greater Gorgon and Wheatstone development in the Carnarvon basin and indicates development potential in the broader region," she said.
Chevron says its made 19 discoveries in Australia since mid 2009.
