For the second year in its 108-year history, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show has not been able to go ahead as an in-person event as planned.

However, rather than being cancelled as was the case last year, this year’s event has been postponed until September (21 to 26) and will take place over six days instead of the usual five to allow for social distancing precautions to be taken and fewer people in attendance each day.

When is the RHS Chelsea Flower Show?

From September 21 to 26, 2021, with fewer people expected to be in attendance each day of the six-day event.

How to watch the Virtual Chelsea Flower Show

On now until Friday 21 May is the RHS Virtual Chelsea Flower Show, the first of which took place last year, with top garden designers sharing their plans for the physical show later this year and famous faces revealing how they garden at home.

Today, Monday 17 May, was RHS members-only day at the virtual Flower Show, but the remaining four days will see videos, gardening demos and garden tours all free to access on the RHS website: www.rhs.org.uk.

Once added to the RHS website each day, content – like the tours and inspiration from top designers – will be available all week for flower show fans to enjoy at their leisure.

What’s on ‘at’ the Virtual Chelsea Flower Show?

Radio DJ and presenter Jo Whiley is one celebrity giving a virtual tour of her Northamptonshire garden, while today the RHS announced the first-ever winner of a Sustainable Garden Product of the Year award as Ocean Plastic Pots.

Made from discarded rope and fishing net, the product was praised for raising awareness of the ocean plastic pollution problem while serving as a sustainable and durable pot solution for UK gardeners.

Ten products were shortlisted for the sustainable product award, from a vertical garden system called PlantBox to a transportable compost loo by Green Oak, before the panel of experts which included Dragons’ Den investor Deborah Meaden made their decision.

All products in this award category will be on display at the September event.

As well as the popular garden tours, highlights are to include celebrity florist Simon Lycett and presenter Nicki Chapman reminiscing about their Chelsea Flower Show memories while creating stunning floral displays.

How to get tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show 2021

Tickets for the physical Chelsea Flower Show went on sale towards the end of last year as the event had been expected to take place this month. Anyone who had already bought tickets will be contact by event organisers about the postponement.
