Chelsea FC 4-0 Malmo LIVE! Jorginho double - Champions League match stream, latest score and goal updates

Chelsea FC 4-0 Malmo LIVE! Jorginho double - Champions League match stream, latest score and goal updates

Chelsea vs Malmo - LIVE!

Chelsea will be expecting to get their Champions League group stage campaign back on track as they welcome Swedish side Malmo to Stamford Bridge this evening.

It’s been far from plain-sailing for the defending champions so far, as they scraped past Zenit St. Petersburg in their opener before being beaten by Juventus in Turin prior to the international break.

That result has left the Italians three points clear at the head of Group H, and though the Blues’ fate remains very much in their own hands, given Juve still have to come to west London, Tuchel knows his side cannot afford any more slip ups if they want to finish top and, theoretically, bag an easier last-16 clash.

That starts tonight against a Malmo side who are without a point or even a goal from their opening two fixtures, and who lost 5-1 on aggregate to Chelsea when they met in the Europa League back in 2019.

Chelsea vs Malmo: How can I watch Champions League clash on TV in UK?

Key Points

  • GOAL! Jorginho tucks away second penalty

  • GOAL! Havertz lifts home

  • GOAL! Jorginho converts penalty

  • GOAL! Christensen scores first Chelsea goal

  • Lukaku forced off injured

  • TV channel: BT Sport 3

FT: Chelsea 4-0 Malmo

21:54 , Malik Ouzia

All very straight forward for Chelsea, but they’ll wait for news of those injuries.

21:46 , Malik Ouzia

87 mins: Kai Havertz has been impressive since coming on, which is good news for Tuchel if he is to be without one or both of Werner and Lukaku for a little while.

21:40 , Malik Ouzia

81 mins: Into the final ten minutes. Timo Werner has, by the way, re-emerged on the substitutes bench, which you’d hope is a positive sign.

21:35 , Malik Ouzia

76 mins: Chelsea fancy a few more before the night’s done. Jorginho curls towards Hudson-Odoi at the back post and the Englishman does well to steer it across goal but Diawara is being fouled trying to clear and Malmo get the free-kick.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

21:32 , Malik Ouzia

73 mins: Ironic cheers as Mendy catches a deep cross. he has been completely untroubled. A big difference to his last time out against Brentford.

21:25 , Malik Ouzia

65 mins: Here come those changes. Kante makes way and Saul Niguez, who’s had a bit of a slow start to life at Chelsea, is on.

And it’s all-change at wing-back as Alonso and James come on for Azpilicueta and Chilwell.

21:22 , Malik Ouzia

63 mins: Looks like Thomas Tuchel is readying a triple change, which is all the subs he’s got left after those enforced changes in the first-half.

GOAL! Chelsea 4-0 Malmo | Jorginho (p) 57’

21:16 , Malik Ouzia

Almost identical. Jorginho lifts high, just left of centre, and sends the ‘keeper the wrong way.

This could get ugly...

21:14 , Malik Ouzia

55 mins: Penalty to Chelsea!

Rudiger finds himself in on goal after a lovely little flick from Mount and Larsson bundles into the back of him.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

21:11 , Malik Ouzia

It felt like Tuchel wanted to use this game to build Lukaku’s confidence. It might end up helping Havertz. There is the opportunity for plenty of goals against this Malmo side, who are there for the taking.

GOAL! Chelsea 3-0 Malmo | Kai Havertz 48’

21:07 , Malik Ouzia

Didn’t take long!

Diawara’s first real job is to pick the ball out of the net as Havertz lifts a lovely little finish over him and in off the far post. Good work from Hudson-Odoi, too, to feed Havertz on the overlap.

KICK-OFF!

21:05 , Malik Ouzia

We’re back underway, and Malmo have made a change in goal as Ismael Diawara comes on off the bench.

I can only assume Dahlin had an injury problem because without him it would have been three or four.

21:03 , Malik Ouzia

Right then, the teams are on their way back out. Can Chelsea finish the job and put a few more past the Swedish side?

The rain, by the way, has very much arrived - it is biblical.

20:58 , Malik Ouzia

When he named such a strong side tonight, I’m sure Thomas Tuchel will have been hoping to go a couple of goals up and make some early changes ahead of the Norwich game at the weekend.

In a way, he’s got that...

20:50 , Malik Ouzia

Andreas Christensen’s first Chelsea goal has arrived in his 137th appearance for the club. He’s rather thrilled.

HT: Chelsea 2-0 Malmo

20:48 , Malik Ouzia

Two goals, but two concerning injuries, too. Half-time at the Bridge.

20:45 , Malik Ouzia

45 mins: There’ll be three minutes added at the end of the half because of those two injuries to Chelsea’s forwards.

20:42 , Malik Ouzia

42 mins: Looks like a hamstring problem - the German pulled up as he darted into the box looking for a cut-back from Havertz that never came.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is imminent.

20:42 , Malik Ouzia

41 mins: Decent save again from Dahlin, who’s done nothing wrong so far this evening.

Kante drives forward and slips in Havertz for a shot from the angle and the ‘keeper stands up well.

More injury concern for Chelsea, though, because no Werner is down needing treatment. Not quite sure what happened - he didn’t seem to be involved in any challenge.

20:39 , Malik Ouzia

39 mins: Kai Havertz has slotted in pretty seamlessly since he came on and he does his best Lukaku impression, holding off a defender to lay into the path of Werner, but the latter’s shot is easily blocked.

20:32 , Malik Ouzia

32 mins: Ben Chilwell has now had three shots tonight. None of them particularly threatening, but he is getting into some very advanced positions.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

20:30 , Malik Ouzia

That’s cruel on Lukaku. This was as bright as he has looked for some time and he was heavily involved in both goal - winning the corner for the first and the penalty for the second.

He didn’t look too happy as he made his way to the tunnel, indicating to Tuchel that he couldn’t go on. Perhaps, with Norwich coming up and the Carabao Cup in midweek, this is a good chance to give him a break.

20:29 , Malik Ouzia

29 mins: You wouldn’t think Lukaku’s absence will make much of a difference tonight because Chelsea are well on their way but my word they’ll be praying that’s nothing serious.

20:23 , Malik Ouzia

23 mins: Kai Havertz is on in place of Lukaku, who heads straight down the tunnel.

GOAL! Chelsea 2-0 Malmo | Jorginho (p) 21’

20:21 , Malik Ouzia

No problems there.

Jorginho eschews his usual little skip and trots up to rifle home. The bad news for Chelsea is that Lukaku’s night is done...

20:18 , Malik Ouzia

18 mins: Penalty to Chelsea!

Hmm, Chelsea had a decent penalty shout turned down a few minutes ago on Jorginho and now they’ve been awarded one as Lukaku bullies his way through a couple of challenges.

Nielsen does actually get a toe on the ball but I think it’s his trailing leg that brings Lukaku down and leaves the Belgian in a heap needing treatment. Looks like an awkward one on his ankle.

20:16 , Malik Ouzia

15 mins: They’re only a goal to the good but already this is feeling a bit “how many?” for Chelsea, who look like scoring every time they come forward, which is pretty much all the time.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

20:13 , Malik Ouzia

Chelsea have utterly dominated so far. Werner put one chance wide and was grateful to see the offside flag raised - then Lukaku’s deflected effort forced a save from Dahlin.

But the goal was coming and it was created by two defenders. Silva’s cross from the right found the run of Christensen, who provided the type of finish Werner would be proud of.

GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Malmo | Andreas Christensen 9'

20:10 , Malik Ouzia

His first Chelsea goal!

Thiago Silva does really well as Chelsea keep it alive from a corner and Christensen is sharpest to react and divert it home. He’s mobbed by pretty much every one of his teammates - he’s waited a long old time for that.

20:09 , Malik Ouzia

8 mins: Decent stop, this. Mount crosses from the right and the ball ricochets back to Lukaku, who shoots left-footed and the ball takes a nick and loops up but is tipped over the bar by Johan Dahlin.

20:06 , Malik Ouzia

5 mins: What a miss. Lukaku slides across the goal and Werner is in the middle of the six-yard box, three yards out, and guides it wide.

The flag belatedly goes up but I think VAR would have overruled the linesman. No one tell Timo that.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

20:04 , Malik Ouzia

Chilwell really has the taste for goals right now. Barely three minutes into the game and he is the first to register a shot.

His header was never troubling Dahlin, but he repeatedly finds himself in dangerous areas in the box.

20:04 , Malik Ouzia

3 mins: Ben Chilwell has, weirdly, been on fire in front of goal lately and he’s involved in an early chance here as Jorginho delivers into the box and the left-back heads not far wide. Bright start from the home side.

KICK-OFF!

A reminder of Tuchel’s comments on Lukaku ahead of this game...

19:29 , Malik Ouzia

“In the very moment I feel Romelu a bit overplayed,” he said. “I think he played too many competitions over the summer, too many competitions with the national team. And now he has played the Nations League.

“He is a fantastic athlete and such a competitive guy that he digs in deep, he wants to win these things and he never takes it easy.

“I feel him a bit mentally tired. Not hugely that we have concern, but for me he does not fully enjoy without having second or third thoughts, for me he is overplayed and this is the key point.

“Once he finds his rhythm and things a bit easier, he will be fine but it is hard to judge if he really needs a break or if we need to keep him on the pitch.”

Our man James Robson is in position with his pre-match thoughts...

Lukaku starts in strong XI

19:00 , Malik Ouzia

So, after all the speculation that Thomas Tuchel might rest Romelu Lukaku and rotate quite heavily, he’s actually started the Belgian and gone with something close to his strongest team.

Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger are both back in the starting lineup after missing the trip to Brentford, while Mason Mount and Jorginho are back in midfield having found starts slightly more difficult to come by in recent weeks.

Head-to-head record

18:25 , Malik Ouzia

These two sides have met only twice previously in Uefa competition, during the last-32 stage of the Europa League back in 2019.

On that occasion, Chelsea won both legs to triumph 5-1 on aggregate.

Standard Sport prediction

18:15 , Malik Ouzia

Malmo have conceded seven goals in their opening two games without scoring one in reply and are unlikely to find the going much easier here, even if Tuchel rotates heavily.

3-0 home win.

Chelsea team news

Thomas Tuchel is considering resting striker Romelu Lukaku, who has struggled in recent weeks after initially hitting the ground running following his summer arrival.

The German can, however, welcome back the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva, all of whom missed the 1-0 win at Brentford.
