Thomas Tuchel admits he would prefer to avoid an all-English clash against Liverpool in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Chelsea booked their place in the last four despite losing 1-0 to Porto in the second leg of the quarter-final on Tuesday night.

The Blues, who progressed 2-1 on aggregate, will face either Liverpool or Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

Real Madrid are 3-1 up going into Wednesday’s second leg at Anfield and Tuchel admits he would prefer to face Real Madrid.

Tuchel told BT Sport: “I do not wish for nothing but in general in the Champions League I like not to play against teams from your own League because it gets more a bit the feeling of a European competition, but that is the only thing.

“Whoever deserves it. The game is far from over. There is nothing decided yet. Everything is possible.

“Liverpool is very strong at home and let’s see. The Premier League is very strong. We take what we get, it is a good situation for us

“I will watch it for sure and it is a pleasure to watch it as a semi-finalist. It is a great achievement.”
