Buying a house is every millennial’s dream – and also their worst nightmare.

With median house prices hitting $1,000,000 in Sydney, it can be tough to find something affordable.

But listed for just $20,000, one Tassie house is bucking the trend.

At 1 Counsel Street, this one bedroom, one bathroom, 432-square metre home is the cheapest home on the market right now.

But buyers were warned: “Bring your cleaning gear, bring your hammer, bring your paint brush.”

“It’s not too far gone to patch up and make a buck, but you will have to be quick, it's the cheapest house in Queenstown.”

While there aren’t any pictures to show what’s inside the house, real estate agent Kevin Briggs told Domain the home was “a mess inside”.

Listed on Monday, Briggs said phones were “running hot”, and it was snapped up the following day.

“It’s under contract already,” Briggs said.

“I’ve had people from Darwin, Sydney – two offers from Sydney,” he added.

“Just because it’s cheap. If it was $70,000, nobody would probably care.”
