Across Australia, the median weekly earnings is $1,066, meaning half of all Australians are taking home less than $1,066 a week.

If you’re a full-time worker, that figure jumps to $1,320 a week, reveals the latest employment data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

If you’re a part-time worker, your median weekly wages plummets to $530 per week.

However, that’s not the case across all industries.

A similar gap persists in the professional, scientific and technical services, where women are paid $36 an hour to men’s $43.

However, workers in mining, agriculture, forestry and fishing, accommodation and food services, arts and recreation, retail and wholesale trade and transport generally earned the same, regardless of gender.
