While men are still being paid more than women in most jobs, the gender pay gap in Australia has narrowed to its lowest yet.

But which are the jobs where women are paid more than men?

There’s not many of them – men are paid more than women for more than 90 per cent of all jobs, according to new statistics by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

“Out of around 1,100 occupations recorded, there were 72 occupations where females had an average taxable income higher than males,” the ATO said.

But there are five eyebrow-raising jobs where women receive higher pay checks than men – and it might not be what you expect.

“This included authors, future traders, magistrates, professional surfers and illustrators.”
