Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake says he'll take a knee with Kyler Murray in 2020

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will have some company during the national anthem in 2020. Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake confirmed he will take a knee next to Murray once the NFL season begins.

The 26-year-old Drake made those comments while appearing on NFL Network. Drake — who was a rookie the year Colin Kaepernick began protesting — said he regretted not joining Kaepernick at that time. Drake added that while Murray is a young player, he commands a tremendous amount of respect and attention in the Cardinals’ locker room.

Drake taking a knee should also carry weight in the Cardinals’ locker room. After performing like a star in eight games with the Cardinals last season, Drake enters 2020 as the team’s full-time starter.

Drake probably won’t be the only player on the team — or around the NFL — to follow Murray’s lead. After a promising rookie season, Murray is considered a rising star in the league. A player of that caliber taking a stand is going to influence others around the league to do the same.
